Lake District National Park, Lancashire and the Peak District – all the Mountain Activity Section Northern area camping meets that were held in July.
July started off with us in the middle of Ambleside. Yes, right in the middle. With a little help from the sunshine, hot days on the fells and a cool-off in lakeland waters were enjoyed by many. “Every day’s been a classic,” says Steve. Thanks to Dave & Gill for sitting it all out as stewards. Please, if you love this mountain valley site, consider giving some of your time next year to help the stewards out.
From Cumbria, our Mountain Activity Section moved on to Lancashire and the charming village of Chipping in the beautiful Ribble Valley. The views from site took in Pendle Hill, Longridge Fell and the Bowland Fells (and there were some EHUs available too). Walks up Parlick may have been some people’s highlight but I think it was the stewarding uniform that brought in some new visitors (check out Activity)!
Then we were off to Thorpe in the Peak District’s Dovedale area, hosted by our MAS Peakland Area. While a windy morning played havoc with the event tent, the weather brightened up for many to enjoy some good walking.
July was good. On to August: near Clitheroe (already happened) and Horton in Ribblesdale this weekend.
