Location, location, location

At MAS Northern, we organise camping meets from spring through autumn in Yorkshire, Cumbria and Lancashire. Sometimes you’ll find us in northern Wales and Scotland too. Invigorating, inspiring, fresh. Great outdoors activity heaven.

Ambleside – J & M Allen

Our meets are usually held in green fields with a beautiful countryside view. These sites offer basic facilities: fresh water, and disposal for chemical toilet and grey waste. Your own sanitation is almost always necessary. Occasionally (but not often), our sites will have limited electric hook-up, toilets or showers.

We welcome caravans, motorhomes/campervans, trailer tents and tents.

We offer some of the most inexpensive camping available and you’re guaranteed a friendly welcome. All members of the Camping and Caravanning Club are welcome to attend our Mountain Activity Section meets (please bring your membership cards).

Our Mountain Activity Section members are an active outdoorsy lot. As well as walking, increasingly, there are requests for group cycle rides. Chris Rogers, one of our keen cycling members, is offering to lead some on-road bike rides at two of our forthcoming meets. Chris often leads medium and medium plus cycle rides with his local Wheel Easy cycle group in Harrogate.

Walk and cycle – that’s our thing

Muddy boots are always welcome at our meets. So pack those bags, boot up, tie those laces, check that map….let’s go!

The locations we camp in are walking, hiking and cycling heaven.  They offer terrains suitable for various fitness levels, from flat riverside paths, to the odd scramble up and down some of England’s highest mountain peaks.  Some of our members run mountain marathons. Some of them don’t.  Some of them cycle 44 miles to buy some cheese. Some of them just like to eat it.

We try to offer group walks at most of our meets. These are led by volunteer members and group walks are dependent on their availability (and their mood about the weather and how good lunch might have been!).  Our walks range from about 4 – 10 miles.
